Admissions Information

Admission to a graduate program is evaluated by both the Graduate School and the department offering the program and both sets of standards and admission procedures must be met for admission to a degree program.

MBA Program Admission


Admission Standards

The School of Business determines admission and assesses background courses that may be required. In the determination of an applicant’s eligibility for admission to the MBA degree, the following measures are of critical importance in determining the ability to succeed in the program.

  • A GPA of 3.0 or better (4.0 scale) in the final 60 hours of undergraduate coursework leading to an undergraduate degree that was completed at a regionally accredited college or university or comparable foreign degree. 

  • Prior to admission, completion of 60% or more or the background courses or their transferable equivalent at a regionally accredited college or university or comparable foreign degree with a grade of ‘B’ or better.

  • Four (4) or more years of relevant professional, managerial, or military experience.

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.4 (4.0 scale) or better on minimum of 12 graduate level courses completed at a regionally accredited college or university or comparable foreign degree.

  • An earned master’s, doctoral or professional degree in any discipline earned at a regionally accredited college or university or comparable foreign degree.

  • An interview may be required. If so, the applicant will be notified.

Overall Admission Procedure


To obtain admission to a master’s degree or other graduate academic program, applicants must meet the minimum admission requirements the Graduate School and the admission requirements of the academic program.  Requirements of the academic program are often more rigorous than the minimum requirements of the Graduate School.  Admission to the Graduate School does not imply admission to a graduate academic program.

There are two steps to apply for admission to a graduate academic program.

1.      Primary Application submission:  https://www.applytexas.org/  (Graduate School application) 

a.      Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

b.      Submit application fee

2.      Supplemental Application submission:  https://laserfiche.untdallas.edu/Forms/Graduate_Application  (MBA program application)

a.      The following required documents can be uploaded with the supplemental application:

                 i.      Essay – please share with the admission committee any unique life experiences, and qualifications that you feel distinguish your candidacy and will add value to the class

                ii.      Resume (work/academic experience)

NOTE:  Graduate students apply for and are accepted into specific programs. Students who wish to change from one program to another must meet all admission requirements for the new program.
